Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) Limited
Effective April 6, 2005

Hong Kong, February 21, 2005 - International Bank of Asia Limited ("IBA") proposes to change the name of the Bank from "International Bank of Asia Limited" to "Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) Limited. Shareholders' approval was obtained at the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) today. The name change will become effective on April 6, 2005 after completion of all legal requirements.


Mr. Jin-Yi Lee, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of IBA, said, "The name change signifies the strong cohesion between the Bank and its parent company, Fubon Financial Holding Co. Ltd. ("Fubon"). We are now in a preparation stage for the name change and we are excited about the change because it will bring along the brand new image as well as enhanced services and products."


The name change reflects the acquisition of a 75% stake in IBA by Fubon and the Bank becoming a subsidiary of the Fubon Group. The name change will not affect any rights of shareholders or bank customers.
