Fubon Bank Introduces Night Banking in all Branches
Offering more flexibility and convenience for the Bank’s customers

Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) Limited (“Fubon Bank”) today announced that it will introduce Night Banking in all its branches and Ambassador Centers on Thursdays following the implementation of the 5-day clearing week in September by the local banking sector. Starting 7 September, 2006, all branches and Ambassador Centers will extend the business hours from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm every Thursday. Furthermore, the Bank will enhance its Ambassador Banking services in late July, with staff being available day and night at the service of the Bank’s high networth customers.

Ms. Carmen Yip, Senior Vice President and Head of Retail Banking Distribution, said, “We are pleased to announce that Fubon Bank will introduce Night Banking on Thursday starting in September in a bid to providing our customers with greater flexibility and convenience following the implementation of the 5-day clearing week. We believe our customers will value the Night Banking service and find it more convenient for coming into our branches and Ambassador Centers after office hours to discuss their banking needs with us. For our high networth customers, we will shortly be launching a series of enhanced services within our Ambassador Banking. One of the key features is that our staff will always be at the service of our high networth customers day and night throughout weekdays and weekends.”

“While we are fully committed to providing our customers with high quality services, we also recognize the importance of enhancing the work-life balance of our employees. Being a caring employer, Fubon Bank has started piloting a 5-day work week for our staff early in May this year. We have also decided to maintain our branches existing opening hours on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm in order to enable our employees to spend more time with their family over the weekend. We believe that not opening our branches on Saturday afternoons and Sundays will not jeopardize our customers’ interests and convenience. In addition to offering Night Banking on Thursdays and enhancing our Ambassador Banking services, we will improve our existing banking services, such as extended cut-off time for accepting cheque deposits and enhanced e-banking features, etc. to meeting our customers’ banking and financial needs,” Ms. Yip concluded.

Fubon Bank will introduce the following service changes and enhancements in September 2006 as a result of the implementation of the 5-day clearing week by the local banking sector:

1)
Night Banking on Thursdays – Starting from 7 September 2006, all branches and Ambassador Centers will open until 8:00 pm on Thursdays. The business hours of all branches from Monday to Wednesday, and Friday will remain unchanged, that is from 9:00 am until 4:30 pm.
2)
Extended cut-off time for accepting cheque deposits – Starting from 4 September 2006, the cut-off time for accepting cheque deposits made over the counter at all branches from Monday to Friday will be extended from 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
3)
Earlier Fund Availability – From Monday to Friday, funds from cheque deposits will be made available to customers earlier. Currently, funds from cheque deposits are made available to customers after 4:00 pm on the day after the cheque deposits are accepted. From 5 September 2006, funds from cheque deposits will be made available to customers half an hour earlier, that is from 3:30 pm.
4)
Enhanced e-banking services – In the month of September 2006, enhancements will be introduced to allow our customers to settle their bills with over 300 merchants over the Internet by direct debit to their bank accounts and / or credit cards. Transfer of funds to accounts in any local banks within Hong Kong will also be introduced.
5)
Branches remain open on Saturdays – All branches and Ambassador Centers will continue to open on Saturdays from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm. While most existing customer transactions will continue to be processed, cheque deposits and outward remittances at branches that open on Saturdays will be taken but due to the 5-Day Clearing Week, such cheque deposits and outward remittances will be processed on the next clearing day, which is the following business day.
